In the 90s, Iran experienced four earthquakes for the decade. In the 80s, two. Again, two in the 70s, and three in the 60s. In 2012, on the curious date of August 11, Iran experienced two significant earthquakes in one day. The earthquakes were separated by exactly 11 minutes, and were the only earthquakes the nation saw for the calendar year. In the year 2013, Iran has already seen three earthquakes. The third came today, Thanksgiving day in the United States. Prior to today, the last earthquake Iran experienced was the day after the Boston Marathon Bombings, April 16, and also a week earlier, on April 9. The earthquake that rocked Iran on April 16th, was measured at 7.8 on the Richter scale, the largest earthquake in Iran's recorded history. While today's earthquake wasn't as powerful, it was extremely close to Iran's first nuclear power plant facility, which opened in 2011. At this time, it is believed nothing is wrong with the facility after the earthquake.
